This project aims to identify sound field descriptors for stage acoustics and determine preferred values for these descriptors, which, in turn, inform the design of performance spaces for chamber ensembles. The main objective is to evaluate the effect of varying room acoustical conditions on musicians’ performance in virtual scenarios using real-time auralisation systems. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Audiokommunikation Group (AKG) at the Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin), which has a long tradition in room acoustics research and the Acoustics Area of the Institute of Automation (INAUT) at the Universidad Nacional de San Juan (UNSJ) in Argentina, which has conformed an emerging leading research group in Latin America in the field of room acoustics.
